Faculty
John Pension holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from U.
Mass, Amherst, a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry from Boston
College, and a Master of Education degree in School Administration from
Emmanuel College. John has over thirty years teaching experience and
extensive experience in youth leadership development, supervision,
service learning, and peer education.
Nina Pension
holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and a Master of
Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Providence College. She has taught
Sacred Scripture to adults since 1977 and in 1993 co-founded Plumfield
Learning Cooperative.
Mary Yetts holds an Associates
Degree in Early Childhood Education from North Shore Community College.
She taught at Gordon Conwell Seminary Nursery School. Mrs. Yetts earned
her certification in Nursing Assistance from North Shore Community
College. She is training in the Wilson Reading Program. Mrs.
Yetts and her husband Neil have home schooled their three children
utilizing the methodology of Charlotte Mason.
Regina Azucena (Spanish) holds a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Oral Roberts University and a
Master of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of New Hampshire.
She has taught Spanish at UNH, for local home school cooperatives and
ESL in the local community. Mrs. Azucena home schooled her three
children.
Elizabeth Duris (Math; Verbal
Narrations) holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from Southern
Methodist University. She presently is self employed as a Shaklee
Distributor. Ms. Duris home schools two of her children.
Gallaudet Howard (Writing
Workshop) holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Harvard
College, a Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University and a
Master of Fine Arts in Writing from the University of Iowa. Ms.
Howard is an editor for the Iowa Wordwrights and teaches Literature and
Writing at New Hope Tutorials. She and her husband have two "very
active" sons.
Michael McDuffee (Music) holds
a Bachelor of Arts in Music, History, and German Studies from
Assumption College. Mr. McDuffee is presently the high school
religious education coordinator at Our Lady of the Assumption Church,
Lynnfield. He is a proud Plumfield alumnus.
Jay
Pension (Acting) holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater
Performance from Salem State College. He is a staff member of The
Boston Children's Theatre and teaches
Acting at New Hope Tutorials, Danvers. Jay is also a graduate of Plumfield Academy.
Courtney Reid,
(Art) holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from Gordon College.
She has broadened her expertise by completing continuing education
courses at Westmont College, Gordon College, and Montserrat College of
Art. Ms. Reid has taught Art in school and community settings
since 1996.
Jean Rogers, (Nature
Study) holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Salem State College,
completed graduate courses in Management, Business Communication and
Conflict Resolution at Radcliffe College, and the Program in Urban and
Community Forestry at Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute
Division of North Shore Community College. Ms. Rogers is a certified
arborist and Ranger with the City of Cambridge Fresh Pond Water
Reservation.
